Good afternoon, Agents and Investigators! My name is Mustafa Said and welcome back to This Week in Niantic History.

So let’s begin with what was revealed on July 28th, 2013:

setup

It was an early release page of a rumored comic written by the ghost artist Tycho, who was responsible for spreading the first-known pieces of what was eventually known as the Niantic Project, XM  and the Shapers. The pic in question shows the deaths of Roland Jarvis and of Katalena, a mysterious woman who was on site to meet Jarvis…

How it ties into the story: The death of Jarvis and the events that led to it have been in deep discussion since their occurrence. The pic and the comic it came from would expand on the secrets they held…

On July 29th, 2013, another document was released:

minotaur rules

The document, released by IQTech Research, were the rules for the upcoming Operation #Minotaur. The rules reveal that Carrie Campbell’s alignment may possibly be in play and that the mysterious Shaper Glyphs might play a role in the Anomaly…

How it ties into the story: The nature of the Glyphs in the Anomaly, to this day, remains a unknown matter of the event itself.

On July 30th, 2013, another document was released:

possibilities

It was a conversation between ADA, who had been in hiding since the Niantic Shutdown, and H. Richard Loeb, the operator of the Niantic Investigator Board….

How it ties in the story: This doc is filled with intrigue. The mysterious Rossum Project that Loeb worked on was mentioned here, ADA begins to ponder the possibility that humans can be ‘reprogrammed’ and we learn how ADA escaped the Shutdown.

On July 31st, 2013, another document was released:
GlyphHunt

In the midst of Operation #Minotaur, the London ENL Agents that had control of the Glyph package from #TimeZero released them in a global GlyphHunt. (for more details on this, please see this interview I conducted with them:https://decodeingress.me/2014/07/09/niantic-history-special-part-ii-london-enl-interview/)

How it ties into the story: The release of the Glyphs allowed the community to control them and not one of the XM Development Corporations.

And finally, on August 1st, 2013, the nineteenth installment of the Ingress Report was released to the public:

In this episode, Susanna Moyer covers a mysterious new weapon released for Ingress Scanners called the Ultra Strike, 50 ENL Agents in San Francisco board a tour bus called the Emerald Express and go on an adventure tearing down Portal Farms and RES Agents in Argentina and Uruguay launch an operation that created 11 Control Fields and gained them 25,000,000 Mind Units.

#Minotaur approaches…and with it, the start of a new change in the world of Ingress….

Tune into DeCode Ingress next week to find out what happened next in Niantic History!
